Thesis: Since God’s agenda is bigger and more important than our personal agenda, we must learn to set aside our personal agenda and work out our problems in the body of Christ.

Turning Point: Don’t focus on yourself, focus on God.

Theme: The Gospel Agenda

Topic: How the Gospel agenda intersects our personal agenda

Title: A Bigger and Better Agenda

Tagline: Stay focused.

Thoughts:

  1. The church is growing in many places.
  2. But the problems in churches remain the same.
  3. Basically we can categorize these problems into two: a) Task-oriented problems (e.g. philosophy of ministry, doctrine,  etc.) and b) People-oriented problems (e.g. conflicts, power struggles, etc.)
  4. The root cause of both of these problems is quite simple: We tend to focus more on our personal agenda rather than God’s agenda.
  5. We need to go back to a bigger and better agenda — God’s agenda.
  6. God’s agenda is bigger and better than our personal agenda.
  7. This is the only way we can resolve our problems in the church.
  8. Since God’s agenda is bigger and more important than our personal agenda, we must learn to set aside our personal agenda and work out our problems in the body of Christ.
  9. It’s time to focus on the right agenda. Don’t focus on yourself, focus on God. Stay focused.
