Title (modern day version of the theme or topic): Why Work
Thoughts (explanation, proof and application):
Many today are speculating that the end is near. Some are even suggesting dates (e.g. May 21, 2011). But instead of worrying about the details of Jesus’ second coming, believers must focus on living productive lives in the mean time. In this passage Paul is exhorting believers to work and not to be idle or to be busy bodies only. The reason? “Laziness affects our witness.” We must show the world that our faith does not lead to laziness. Instead it leads to productivity and industriousness. Let us remind each other to live productively for the kingdom of God.
