Thrust: We must celebrate our diversity and seek to find our ministry in the body.
Thesis: Since the church can only grow to maturity if everyone is united in ministry in spite of their diversity, we must celebrate our diversity and seek to find our ministry in the body.
Turning Point: Unity in ministry, in spite of diversity, leads to maturity.
Theme: The body of Christ
Topic: How the body of Christ can grow toward maturity
Title: The Key to Church Growth
Tagline: Let’s unite.
Thoughts:
- The great commission necessitates that the church will grow. It is the by-product of our obedience to Jesus Christ.
- Many churches are not growing. Some are even dying.
- Some blame the external environment — persecution, worldliness, pluralism, etc.
- Some point to poor leadership.
- Others blame Satan or other demonic influences.
- But Paul talks about the key to church growth — and it’s not found outside the church. The key is you and I.
- He talks about two movements: a) unity within diversity and b) ministry leading to maturity. (Eph 4:1-16)
- The church can only grow to maturity if everyone is united in ministry in spite of their diversity.
- We must celebrate our diversity and seek to find our ministry in the body.
- Remember, unity in ministry, in spite of diversity, leads to maturity. Therefore, the key to church growth is you and I. Let’s unite.
