Called to Connect

Text: Philippians 2:1-11

Truth: God has called us to connect with each other.

Thrust: We must not surround ourselves with relational walls.

Thesis: Since God has called us to connect with each other, we must not surround ourselves with relational walls.

Turning Point: We just don’t need relationships, we need to relate.

Theme: Christian Community

Topic: How Christians should relate with each other

Title: Are You Connected?

Tagline: Make friends in the church.

Thoughts:

  1. It’s easy for us to admit that we all need relationships.
  2. We may have our reservations or fears, but we know we need relationships. Deep down we cry out for relationships.
  3. But our problem is not about our need for relationships. Our problem has to do with our need to relate.
  4. In other words, we are commanded by God to relate with each other, because we are Christians (vv.1-2). In other words, it’s not an option for us. Being Christian means I have to connect with others.
  5. But most of us are focused on what others ought to be doing to meet our needs! In fact, most of us complain whenever people are not meeting our needs.
  6. The Bible, however, teaches us to do two things: a) set aside our self-focus (vv.1-4), and b) serve as Jesus serves (vv.5-11).
  7. Since God has called us to connect with each other, we must not surround ourselves with relational walls. We must go out and connect with others, no matter what the cost.
  8. Remember, we just don’t need relationships, we need to relate. Make friends in the church.

If you or your members or fellow leaders are interested to learn this, I’m putting up a course that you can study online. I can mentor you long-distance also. This is possible. If you’re interested, let me know.
